Folks,
Ported my number to O2, staid with the network for over two years, and then got disconnected due to debt and hardship.
I am now in a position to settle the debt, and have approached O2 about getting my number back, but hit a complete stone wall - sure O2 wants their money back, but are refusing to confirm that once debt is settled that I'll get my number back.
Reading OfCom's general conditions of use, section 18, it would seem the law is on my side, but I'm not sure I have the time to take this all the way to the courts.
What is the way round this?
I want this number since it was a gift by my late father.

Usually (and obviously we don't know your exact circumstances) if an account is left unpaid O2 will disconnect it. You can then reconnect it by paying the outstanding balance plus a £15 reconnection fee.
If this goes unpaid, O2 will pass it to a debt collection agency where you will need to pay them the outstanding balance plus an admin fee to have it reconnected. Once this has been paid, they pass it back to O2 who will reconnect the account.
Now providing this is your first disconnection, I see no reason why O2 won't reconnect the account once you have paid everything you owe O2.
Once paid, call up and ask to speak to Payment Management. They should be able to help you.
