Advice - spending a week in Finland

Anonymous
Not applicable

Before I try to wade through the website and engage in discussions with customer support, are there any tips on what I should do if I want to use my phone in Finland when on holiday there over Easter?

There are two separate scenarios...

  1. I just need a phone for calls... I have a terminally ill relative AND am buying a house so there could be urgent calls I need to make or receive
  2. If I want data so I can check email

In both cases I expect low usage but we're trying to see which of us should set their phone up, as my wife's on a different provider.

Any advice welcome on the best options.

European rates are reasonable, it's when you go farther afield the pain starts! Enjoy Finland and hope it gets a little warmer for you over Easter:smileyhappy:

This may chage according to some o2 employees in line with the o2 travel for business announcment.

£1.99 for 15mb but you can buy extra 15mb blocks.

And just thye 50p setup fee each 60min call in and out no usage of allowance.

Seen in several other threads change date 26th (tommrow) see the note on the o2 travel business page http://www.o2.co.uk/international/o2-travel/business

Beware!  Beware!  If you travel to Finland by ferry you will likely find that, without your phone ever having been used, they will dump hundreds of pounds worth of charges on your bill.  This is despite the fact that WNS does not operate unless the ship is twelve miles from land... and the ship seldom is.  Remember... You do not have to use the phone.  You need download no data.  Suddenly they heap these extortionate charges on you.  WNS do not levy the charges.  It is O2 that does it.

Rubbish. The ship's network charges O2 who in turn charge you - Just in the same way that you get charged for using a credit card, ie the vendor charges the bank and the bank charges you.
O2 have not cheated you at all.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

Ferries are notorious for high charges both for calls and data. The ferry has charged you not O2. Always best to research before you go in all honesty. The ferry company have charged you for data you have used by having the phone on and not disabling mobile data.
