As if we haven't got enough to do.... however, I want the best advice during this current crisis.

Grandson's 2 year contract on O2 via CPW is due to expire May 20th (paid by me)

He now has a Note 10 bought outright so wants a sim only contract from O2

Does he cancel his contract with O2, if so when?

Or does he upgrade to a sim only with O2 DIRECT or do CPW do sim only?

(I've already had an email via CPW stating 10 weeks to go)

A nice step by step guide would be nice and helpful.

Thanks guys.

You could always take it early as a new contract then migrate number across..
That would automatically end the old contract too.

But his only upgrade option is Refresh which would mean a new phone and he's got a new Note 10?

Ah I see, you mean take out a new simo contract and migrate number?

Still that would involve the dreaded call to CS and him being here as well. I think it would be better to wait as you said before.

As long as the account is in his name only he will need to call.

I took the contract out in my name @MI5 as we knew as a student he would have to undergo credit checks etc...and it was a present from me.

However,  when we took it out the contract, we asked O2 if he could control the My O2 part of it.

They agreed to this. He set up his own My O2 account (his email and own password) We were both at my house and we both agreed to it.

His contract doesn't show in My O2 at all.

However I got the email from CPW (when they were operating) that the upgrade was due in 10 weeks.

It never went to him.

Ah, I see.
I guess he wants it in his name now then?

Not really. He's still at Uni and would have to undergo credit checks if it went in his name.

We just wanted the same set up we had before. I bought him the Note 10 and was going to pay the sim only contract monthly and him continue to manage his own My O2.

Bottom line the CPW contract is £38 per month. I don't want that rolling on when he can have a much cheaper sim only.

Ok, so if the simo is going to be in your name too, only you need to call customer service.
You'll just need Ben to give you his security word for his MyO2 and he'll have to quickly send you the code he gets texted to his phone.

Ps. If you do this through upgrades on the phone they should answer and it will only need one call.

Thanks again.

I did try CS this afternoon. As soon as I input his phone number as the one I was calling about, the automated voice said 'Sorry we can't help you' and disconnected.

*Sighs*.... Now I will join the queue of people trying to get through. frowning2
