I asked to have my account cancelled at the end of May, however I see that it's not been cancelled as of this morning when I've been billed.
Is there any way to remedy this?

Is the SIM still active? To cancel a contract there is a 30 day notice period so if your call to cancel was end of May, disconnection will not occur until end of June and a final bill will be created 14 days after.

Thankfully I gave the 30 day notice period, however...
The person I spoke to on the phone said it would be canbcelled as soon as I ported my number across, but I decide not to use my old o2 number because I was getting too many nuisance phone calls.
