Hi - I have an iPhone 12 Pro and I’m on a 10Gb sim only tarrif. I was hoping to have used 5G, as according to your coverage checked it is available in my area, however I’ve so far not picked up a 5G signal and wondered whether this is because I need a special sim? And if so how I go about ordering one - can I do this online? As I’ve tried getting through on the phone but the lines are continuously busy.

@Bilbo_uk

You should have been given a 5g SIM with your phone.

If so you need to do a SIM swap from your old SIM.

If you didn't get one, you need to call customer service to get one sent.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply. Just to clarify I bought the phone sim free and then signed up for a sim only tarrif, however I didn’t specify which phone I was using beyond stating that it was an iPhone, so is it possible that my sim isn’t a 5G one?

I would have expected any new sim sent out now would be a 5g sim.

Do you have iData enabled on your account?

If you don't, 5g may not work. You can tell if visual voicemail works or not.

Hi, visual voicemail works so assume I do have I data enabled. Do I need to do anything to enable 5G either on my account or handset? I only ask as I’m currently posting from an area which according to o2 coverage checker has good 5G coverage so would’ve expected to see a 5G connection?

Only to check that 5g is enabled in your network settings.
