Yes, the phone will still work, but you'll only receive a 3G signal at best until 4G is activated in your area.

If you sign up before 31/10 you also get a nice bigger data tariff allowance too.

Win win situation. slight_smile

I bought an O2 package through the Carphone Warehouse last month. This was advertised as a 24 month contract containing 1 GB (4g) of data (+ the typicall unlimited text, calls in UK) with the new Iphone 5C, which is 4g enabled.

I am unable to connect to 4g, the only connection I get is 3g. I know O2 has experienced some issues with 4g connection in the past but it not working now either. The Carphone Warehouse now mentions they sold me 3g (even though their web clearly stated thas as 4g on moment of purchase) and they have not bothered to provide any solution or compensation. They now direct me to O2. Fair enough as O2 provides the technology/connection but CW has sold the package.

Wonder if sbdy. experienced a similar issue? I am still waiting for a solution to get 4g on my mobile and after a month nobody could provide me with any solution.

Thanks

You need to take it up with CPW and also understand exactly if they signed you up to 3G or 4G. You won't get 4G on a 3G contract if that's what you've got.

You could do with putting this in writing to Carphone Warehouse's Complaint Department.

Provide all your supporting info.

Let us know how you get on.

@PandG, what you haven't said is where you live. Has the 4G service been activated in your area?

It's absolutely fine and the extra data allowance is an added bonus so makes a lot of sense.
