Even though my phone is a 5g one I don't get 5g where I am and for the last few days I haven't been able to get a signal and the 4g has had a x on it any help would be much appreciated thanks

You need a 5G SIM in your phone for it to use the 5G signal. For your 4G with an X, take a look here, @Pipstop78 - Guide: How can I sort out my network issues? 

Sometimes, switching your phone settings to use the 3G signal can help, if the mast you connect to is oversubscribed.
