4g speed tests.

Just a warning for anyone really. The free 4g for existing customers is now up and running and thought I would test the speed in Leicester on the HTC one mini. Did 2 tests on the ookla app and great 27 down, 19 up but looking at the data usage on the phone it says the app has used 198 mb of data. This seems an amazing amount. Could the usage monitor be wrong or is this really how much they use? Anyone know?

Yes, we've warned others on here about the same thing. It's a min of 50mb per test !

The way a speed test works is by tranferring a large amount of data (over 50mb each way) to test the speed of the download and upload.  Not something you want to mess around too much with.
