EE only has converted 2.5% roughly to 4g so will it be that big a rush on launch day.

And surely it is only going to take a few mins to activate the new tariffs on the network.

Just think a new customer walks into a store gets a new handset by the time they have left the shop the phone will be working.

Very true im only going by what I was told by cs (on the phone not live chat)

Sounds like there adding to the confusion.

They really shouldn't be surmising on what could or may happen but stick to the known official released info.

Patience guys. O2 will tell us when you can change so guessing isn't doing anyone any good.

Exactly it's no big deal and only 3 places will have it anyway.

No one at O2 seems to be able to give me a definitive answer. O2 replied to a tweet saying that i wouldn't have to break my contract to get 4G, i have a Galaxy S4.

I have also just as i am typing this out got a reply from Amily a Guru via online chat, said that i won't have to break my contract to upgrade to 4G and just to ring them on the 29th.

This has been very poorly handed by O2. They seem to have forgotten people that already have 4G handsets and just aimed at people that need a 4G handset and need to break their contracts.

I have also spoken to a Guru (personal friend) who told me that their instore staff have no idea what the tariffs will be for 4G ready customers and that even though they aren't getting 4G (In that city) straight away they are to now make 4G the main selling point.

Hi,

This is from the 02 Website.

"

Still in contract? Don't wait to upgrade – get O2 Refresh now

If you're already a Pay Monthly customer and in the middle of your current contract – Speed to Refresh is for you.

We'll give you 25% off your remaining line rental so that you can get a fast track upgrade to O2 Refresh now. To find out if you're eligible, see our terms and conditions.

And when 4G arrives on the 29 August, you’ll be able to use an equivalent offer to move to our 4G tariffs."

Im not surprised the store staff will be told to highlight this service {4G} as a selling point but im hoping they also drill home when and where 4G will be available etc.

O2: @CNWR86 We're sorry for the confusion, existing customers don’t have to break their existing contract but would need a 4GSIM/4G ready device

The information I was given in store was that you need to wait until the 29th, then you can change tariff without affecting your current contract length but you will need a 4G SIM and the phone firmware must have 4G enabled. Don't know about the HTC (or other Android) phones but the Blackberry Z10 has just had a software update enabling the previously hidden 4G option.

I'm not on a refresh contract so don't know if the same applies to the OP
