4G Roaming with O2 in EU?

I am an Erasmus Student. I got an attractive offer for Pay Monthly GBP 15/month and will be living in Slovenia for the next 5 months starting in February.

I read a community post that there is no 4G partnership so not guaranteed while roaming. I understand this.

BUT if the 4G network does exist, say in Ljubljana. Will my phone be connecting to it? Or will it be locked out by whoever runs the network on purpose?

I will be visiting home and outisde the EU for around 2-3 months. Is there anyhow I can pause my pay monthly?

You cannot pause your contract but you can still use your mins, texts and data on 3g whilst in anu EU country.
https://www.o2.co.uk/help/pay-monthly/roaming-in-europe (This only applies when you are roaming so you cannot call home from UK without charges.)
and from the community:
https://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Pay-Monthly-and-Pay-Go/Roaming-Changes-from-15th-June-2017-CONTRACT-ON...

For travel outside of Europe see individual countries here for the cost of using your phone http://international.o2.co.uk/internationaltariffs/travelling_abroad

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

@Shumayal  O2 does not have any 4G agreements in Europe. You will not get 4G. If you're going to be there for a while, you'd probably be better off making sure your phone is unlocked and getting a local sim.

You cannot pause your O2 contract.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2

PS. You can get 4g in Germany.
So far it is the only EU country that you can on a consumer contract.
Business contracts are different and can get 4g in Europe all over.

Does anyone have an update on this?

I called both O2 Business and Consumer and spoke to a number of people... and their managers. No one has a clue... the standard answer is that if the country has 4G then they will connect to 4G!!

Even when I mentioned that this is not true and that Germany is the only country that O2 Peronal supports 4G . they still didn't know, or even know who they or I could speak to to confirm!

Does anyone know if roaming on O2 business is the same, i.e only 4G in Germany?

Business users can access 4g in more countries, but it may be tariff dependant.
Personal customers can now get 4g in Germany and Czech Republic.

Thanks MI5.  Now if I only I could find a staff member or manager at O2 Business that actually knows!  If I find the answer I'll post back!  If Vodaphone had better coverage where I lived then I'd have made the switch across already.

not true. You can only get 4G in Germany at the moment. Everywhere else in EU is 3g. Also be careful of Switzerland  as not in EU according to O2 so high rprices there. Also Norway. Beware also of Turkey. Included on Vodafone but not O2 🙂
