£28 bill charged at £29.82 with no calls, text or data used

Anonymous
Not applicable

I recently got a contract with O2, the phone has not yet arrived.

The contract was for £28 per month, but my 1st bill is for £29.82 - I haven't even got the phone yet.

Why is this?

I know it's not much extra, but I hate big corporations ripping people off so I not just going to let it go

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi

Ref a first bill.

For your first O2 bill you are charged for the first couple of days connection, until the billing date, and then one month in advance.

Payment date is always 2 weeks after the billing date.

Your allowances will also be split during the initial few days, so allowances will be devided by 30 days times the number of days until your O2 bill is produced.

On a new account sometimes it takes around 24 hours for things to settle with the My02. If it continues then Customer Service on 202 should be able to help.

Also take note of RPI

To add anything not correct will be returned to your account via 202 when you ring them.

Yeah your first bill covers usually one or two days as well as the first month. I recently signed up for a sim only at £27 a month and my first bill was nearer £28 as it was for a month and a day

In my opinion it's wrong charging it if the phone hasn't even arrived

It is but CS will repay the days upto when you receive the phone.
It starts billing immediately so people buying in store can use the phone straight away and the billing system does not differentiate between online and shop sales.

The plus is it brings your upgrade date forwards by a few days. Always handy getting new phones earlier (even if it is only a few days)
