2 year contract to simplicity... do I need to cancel?

My 2year contract ends on September 15th 2014. So my early upgrade could have come 15th August. I was still deciding what to do so I left it

Its now 22nd of August and ive deciced to go with a Simplicity sim.

On the my o2 site when I sign in, theres two options for me to upgrade: either a new contract or a new sim only plan.

I picked the sim only plan and can have the new sim on Tuesday.

My questions are:

When I get that sim, can I use it straight away?

Do I wait till September 15th when my contract runs out?

Do I have to call o2 to NOT renew/carry on my contract?

Do I need 30 days notice to cancel my contract? Or will it just stop anyway? (ive heard it becomes a 30 rolling contract)

If I don't tell anyone I want to stop the contract will I be landed with 2 bills next month? (Contract and simplicity)

Hope this makes sense.

So I didnt order the sim last night. I called customer service explaining I missed the 30 day notice and she said its fine.
I told her the simplicity deal I wanted (£20, 3gb date, unlimited calls n texts) and she did it over the phone saying it would come into effect tomorrow.
My bill dates stay the same just will change over automatically so next month/bill will be simplicity.

My hill date is tomorrow so im guessibg that willbe the last of my contract payments.

Thanks for all ur help guys x

Hi as you have upgraded to sim only no you don't need to cancel your contract it will cancel itself and you can start using it straight away you may need to call O2 to get the new sim activated

As long as you are keeping the same number your contract will just change to SIM only, but if the new SIM has a new number you may have to cancel the old one.

Hi beezee

This as suggested should complete fine , although if your still Concerned then it won't harm to give O2 Customer Services a quick call on 202 for Official Clarification.

Unless you need a new sim due to sim size or that your old sim isn't 4G, you just carry on using your original sim.
The new sim will arrive unactivated, so to use this you will need to call CS on 202 or complete a sim swap
