Hi there I am 35 year old Autistic Male!
Last October I bought iPhone 16 pro Max 256GB silver £36 months contract!
I got email regarding price increase April 2026 29th October 30 days I can leave 02 airtime plan but keep paying device plan monthly
I finally got through to a U.K call centre yay! after trying for ages!
they gave me a very good deal with unlimited data texts & calls for 12 months £20.80 so was gonna take it!
but they were really stressing me out 😭 as they told me I had to start a new deal with a temp number with new SIM card (Can’t have eSIM) then when Sim card arrives put it in my iPhone then call them back up (don’t wanna speak to offshore call centre)!
they will then transfer my number to it! I was stressing out massively as concerned I would be paying for 2 airtime plans & that way seemed too confusing for me!
I just wanted to keep same Sim Card but update my airtime plan but was told I can only do that if I pay my device plan off in full!
Next Saturday I am going to the o2 store to chat to them and get this sorted & nipped in the bud got till 8th December to sort it!
I feel like 02 have let me down massively,
Any advice you can give me please?

It's all commission based sdales these days and agents get more for new contracts rather than upgrades, so they've lied to you for their benefit only.
Get your PAC and move elsewhere if you can get a better deal and save the hassle. You can still keep paying monthly for your phone either way.
However, you must speak to O2 to arrange this.

You are a victim of the hard sell that seems to be the latest push from customer services.
You were right to back out as you will end up in a worse position than you are in now.
I would ring O2 again but have someone with you and put the phone on speaker. Let them know you have someone with you
State you want to leave because of the price rise and you wish to cancel your airtime element of your plan and carry on with the device payment, and therefore require a PAC

I am paying
16 Pro Max 256GB
£30 Airtime Plan
£36.11 Device Plan
Apple Watch SE 2nd Gen
£13.87 Airtime plan
£6.75 Device Plan!
tried to get pac code online via my 02 but said I needed to pay full device plan off
not happy!
with EE I can get unlimited everything as with EE broadband for
£24 Now
£26.40 31st March 26
£29 31st March 27
That’s cheaper than my 02 deal
offshore call centres say no can do! U.K ones want me to get new deal with new number & if give me pac code I feel they will want me to pay the full £830.37 that’s left on my device plan can’t afford it! Email says I don’t have to
been with O2 for years but this is final straw for me

As I said above, you must call to arrange to leave and keep paying the device plan. Any other way will result in full payment for everything.
If you do choose to leave O2 you will need to pay off watch too.

When I call I get through to India the Philippines or Malaysia who can’t help at all so always hang up!
U.K call centre are reluctant to give me PAC code & want me to pay my full Device plan in one go or try get me on new deal like I said!
so next Saturday I am gonna to O2 store in my local town
To hopefully either get a better deal on my Airtime plan whilst keeping same SIM card! Or Cancel my Apple Watch contact (Ends next year Sept 2026) & pay device off £67.08
Then get PAC Code so I can leave while paying Device plan monthly (not in one go) then go next door to EE & get sim only deal+ discount as EE broadband customer
@Enlli @MI5 thank you for your reply

You could get a better deal on an upgrade basis in store @ITFCJosh but they can't help if you want to cancel airtime and keep paying the device plan.

I CBA to speak to an offshore call centre adviser as really struggle to understand them lol!
i am sure O2 store can let me cancel airtime plan & pay off device plan monthly if they can’t offer me good deal

As stated @ITFCJosh they are not authorised to cancel airtime plans on their own.
If you struggle with offshore take my previous advice and have someone with you when you call.
