02 losing a customer of 10 years+

Im not sure what restraining order 02 have currently got held over them, but they are just about to lose a customer of 10 years+ because of it.

From a comparatively small (but award winning) online setup I can get an iPhone6 64GB for free with unlimited mins and texts and 1GB data for £38 per month.

02 cant get ANYWHERE near that! And just answer with a flat "we cant give discount on the iphone 6 at the moment".

02 are £10 per month more expensive and still want circa £99 upfront on top!

How can one of the UK's leading mobile companies be SO far of the competition on price?

They need to re-consider the deal they've done with Apple or whatever else it is holding them back.

I'd love to stay, but 02 has just lost a long standing and loyal customer.

PAC code requested!

Maybe the network you've chosen doesn't offer such good service and support.

You get what you pay for.

We have known for the new iPhones to be more expensive on handset price on the Refresh Tariff than to buy it sim free from Apple but on the flip side not all have the disposable income too.

Independents can sometimes offer better deals because they pass on some of the spiff they get for opening a new contract from the network and pass it into the customer, but they can't offer the refresh tariff so it can be a bit of a trade off a your stuck on a 24 month standard tariff.

Try asking to speak to retentions on 202 to see if they'll match and have the deal ready to show them from elsewhere.

@Phillrwin it is most likely that whoever you've chosen to go through has heavily subsidised the handset with incentives whereas O2 do not subsidise their handsets

Please do check out your newly chosen network before committing by way of Payg SIM cards and or ask people in your area you know who are in that network if they get good signal.

Thats the trouble when going through the network direct.....its ALWAYS more expensive than using a 3rd party.

Unless you go through to the retentions team and haggle a deal that get even close, NEVER upgrade directly

That's incorrect.

Every iPhone 6 variant was at least £10 cheaper on handset price through o2 refresh when compared to apple direct, even at release.

I recall various posts from people who found the handset plan on Refresh more expensive than it was to buy the iPhone direct from Apple.

That's because they chose a tariff with a different initial outlay.
Each iPhone, when picked with a different upfront cost, actually worked out cheaper than apple.
There are a few posts explaining the breakdown in detail.
