02 Sales rep lied to me.

I had gone into an 02 shop in Woolwich (London), and asked about Ipad sims, I was told that they don't do monthly contracts, but they sell either pay and go sims for 1gb, or preloaded sims for 1gb for £10.21.

I had agreed to get one of these sims. I had asked before paying for this sim.
"Does the data last for a set period of time? like 30 days? or till I use up all of the 1gb of data?"

The shop worker said "It's till you use up the 1gb of data."

I left the shop thinking I got 1gb of data to last me a good while, since I don't use my iPad 4 much out doors.

I got home a few hours later and decided to set up my sim in my Ipad 4, and it said when activating that I had a 30 day plan for 1gb of data. I was not told this by the sales rep.

I'm rather annoyed that I wasn't told about the 30 day expiry date and when even asking about an expiry date I was informed against it.

Is this really how 02 staff work?

I have no idea what you were told as I wasn't there, all I know is that the details for these sims are online here:

http://www.o2.co.uk/broadband/ipad-sim?cm_mmc=googleuk-_-MBB-_-iPad%20Sim%20-%20Brand-_-iPad%20Sim%2...

It's a pity you didn't come here for advice beforehand as we could have explained it to you.

You can always make a formal complaint if you feel you have been mistreated:

As long as you setup the recurring payment of £10.21 for 1gb the data is not lost at end of 30 days but rolls over until you reach a 5gb max data limit on the sim.

That way you can use a lot of data one month and then build it back up

If all you're looking for is data for your iPad, you should take a look at GiffGaff. They run on the O2 network, and for £7.50/month you could get the same amount of data that you're getting from O2. It's a no-brainer, really. And just so you know, I don't work for GiffGaff or O2.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2

I tried going to Giffgaff but they've failed to send me out an Ipad sim twice now (been waiting about 15 days for my sims), so I resulted in picking up an 02 sim while I was in my town centre, as they rarely have a queue and EE are just slow at serving 1-2 people, or I would've gone there.

I wouldn't pay for another month with 02, with the lack of information I was told by the sales rep, and the poor service with my last contract (that I've canceled yesterday), I've had enough of 02. Had only resulted in getting the sim as I'm traveling next week and would like to have my iPad connected online while sitting on the train. Just glad I didn't sign up to a recurring plan.

I'll just have to try my best to get the most out of this sim before the 30 days are up.

Just so you know in nearly all O2 stores they are franchises, meaning they really aren't the best when it comes to the fine details unless they are very committed. I don't think he lied to you it could simply be a case of him being un-informed and didn't want to seem as such. If the contract is under 14days you still have the right to cancel the contract bring it into the store. Get the same agent along with the manager and explain the circumstances this should hopefully get this sorted for you.

Franchise stores are just as competent as retail stores, they are all subject to the same training and guidelines so personally I would put this down to an ill-informed individual. Some of our top stores are franchise owned including our flagship store on Tottenham Court Road.

I work for O2 but my comments and opinions posted here are solely my own and do not reflect those of Telefonica.

7 working days is the limit for cancelling a contract.
