The price increase isn't unfair, and it's all within the rules that Ofcom have set out. O2 are not the only network to be doing this. The Terms and Conditions of the contract you agreed to say that if you want out of your contract early, you have to pay the remainder of any months you have left.

@Anonymous wrote:Very minimal, about 60p. But it is the principal of thing that when I signed a 2 year contract it was based on how much it would cost me a month - then I find that they can just go ahead and increase it.....?!
Did you read the Terms and Conditions before accepting the contract ?

I didnt want out of my contract until I was told there would be an increase! I wouldnt have signed up in the first place if I wasnt happy with what the cost was each month-I'm unhappy that the cost has now increased! People sign into contracts based on that they know how much it costs them and what they can afford, otherwise you go onto a pay as you go..

The point here is that the price increase is mentioned in your contract terms.
You are correct that you shouldn't have signed if not happy with that possibility but as you did you now have to accept it I'm afraid.....

I know that there is nothing that I can do. However after 10 years of being in fixed contracts this is the first instance that it has increased and I find that signing into a contract based on how much it will cost me and then finding out that it can be increased is unfair.

I think we all agree with that and that was the "spirit" of the OFCOM ruling. However, it seems that all Networks have now found a way around the guidelines and only 2 of them are applying them in the spirit they were intended to be in.

I thought the ending of the O2 emails were all standard text embodied within the signature.
