Had a call from this number yesterday, it was someone called Steph, saying she was from O2 and wanted to talk to me about an upgrade to my tariff. She mentioned that I got my current SIM only tariff from the O2 shop in Cirencester last year (which I did do).
After receiving a 4-digit code (standard for O2 when dealing with Customer services in their shops), we spoke for a while and she offered me a 15% discount on my current tariff (actually reducing it by £5). It all went through OK and I had an email containing the O2 T&Cs and a standard O2 receipt (looked like the ones I've seen before), my new tariff is now in effect.
After checking the number, it appears to be from Talk Talk Mobile Phones Limited.
My question is, is this genuine? All seems to be ok, the address shown on the receipt is for Albert Street, Birmingham but O2 don't appear to have a shop there. All the tariff details have updated correctly on My O2.

I wonder if it is a trusted partner? No evidence of anything O2 registered when I googled it but one link said Talk Talk? (read down the list of related businesses
Edited to add it IS O2 according to this O2 twitter feed...

Aaah ok, seems genuine enough then, and 15% off my tariff is a good deal

As long as you are happy with it and there are no hidden clauses like signing you up to a business tariff which you don't need. We don't normally recommend dealing with 3rd parties who cold call you....but it is up to you. The Twitter link does confirm it's O2
