Hi @Anonymous Firstly take a look at this thread about sending texts which convert to MMS https://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Other-Products-and-Services/Accidental-MMS-Sending-and-How-to-Avoid-it/ba-p/1014132

As a side issue....If you were using messenger and viber with mobile data/data roaming turned on this would have cost you. I know you were sending from UK but it's only free if you send from abroad over WiFi...

Edited to add the changes to roaming since June 15th https://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Pay-Monthly-and-Pay-Go/Roaming-Changes-from-15th-June-2017-CONTRACT-ONLY-quot/td-p/1053128

No I did not have my mobile data on. I know and understand how costly it is.

I really dont know what to do.

Im going into 02 next week. cancel my monthly contract and use Pay as you go.. and look else where!!! for a better provider. At the moment I pay £15 under conract then I get a bill for £86 for sending messages.. and I use viver and messenger to send my texts and messages????? ill never understand. I am out the uk for 3 months at a time, and dont use my 02 phone while in Cyprus, as I use an sim card for Cyprus..

its only when im here in uk and want to send texts and pics to cyprus useing my 02 sim card, that i am having problems.

You need to read the link I enclosed about 'accidental MMS' ie

An MMS is an SMS that contains a picture, short video clip or any type of “media” (multi media service).

This is why you have been charged. It will be the same with any other network you change to I'm afraid ..

@Anonymous If using apps yes as long as they are sent over data and not normal sms network you should not be charged if sending to a non uk sim in Cyprus then all messages sent as a standard sms or mms will be charged but not through an app using your normal data allowance or wifi .

You must have been using the mobile network to send texts.
Your MyO2 will give you a breakdown of why you have been charged and you can't just cancel because of this without paying off what you owe on your contract or device plan.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

We obviously can't see your account but O2 seem sure the texts and pictures have gone over their network and I urge you to check the link posted by @Cleoriff above and have a look at a breakdown of your bill.

If you still feel O2 have it wrong then make an official complaint, the correct way forward for you.

Bear in mind it isn't as simple as just changing to p&g if you have not come to the end of your contract. There could be fees due so please don't just cancel any direct debit.
