At 5.25pm I bought a pay as you go sim from an O2 store giving them £30. I received an sms saying that my tarif is £30 but when I log into my O2 acount or try to call/send an sms it shows that I have no balance and that I need to top up

£30 buys you these allowances which are given in exchange for the credit.

You can use those mins and texts to any UK number (except premium rates) but your balance will show as zero credit.

If you wish to just have credit without allowances, you need to change your tariff to the "Classic Pay as you Go"

You can track usage in your MyO2 http://www.o2.co.uk/myo2

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

@Anonymous You maybe on a big bundle sim which would have taken the credit to pay for allowances. Call customer service & ask to be put the classic or simply tariff where you will use your credit as normal & they should refund you

Did they activate the sim for you? Are you on a Big Bundle tariff? These take your money for allowances but you should still be able to send texts etc...https://www.o2.co.uk/help/phones-sims-and-devices/activating-your-sim
