Joining Tomorrow - Few Questions

Hello,

Chose Calssic PAYG,  and am being ported tommorow. How does the PAC allow porting?

At present, my phone is not locked (don' think it is anyway). I hope when the porting process has completed that I will not find myself locked to O2?

I wanted to acknowledge a text sent to me by O2. It came from O2-UK. There was no number. How do i respond?

Are you all happy with Classic PAYG?

I assume that I can just switch off, remove the battery and the current SIM, and install the new O2 SIM, and top up. Is this the correct procedure? Can't think of another way.

Thanks

he process of porting is explained here http://www.o2.co.uk/help/phones-sims-and-devices/how-to-keep-your-mobile-number and there is no need to reply to any of the texts you get sent.
Once your old sim turns off just replace it with your O2 one and reboot a few times until you get a network connection.
You phone won't lock to O2 at all but you do need your old network to provide an unlock code if it is locked, if it's not, no worries.

Thank you for responding.

Regarding replying to the text. I know that I do not need to reply, but I would like to know how.

Best wishes

Regarding unlocking. I think that my phone is unlocked, but if it isn't, I wonder if my previous provider would provide the code - are they obliged to supply the information?

Thanks

Yes your previous provider is legally obliged to unlock the phone for you.

Regarding generic texts from o2 you can't reply to them, best option is to call.

Just talk to your old network if you have any locking issues.

There are some shops that unlock phones for a fee. I wonder how they make any money if providers are legally obliged to unlock them!

Good news that you are unlocked.
I guess shops make money from it because people don't realise that networks will do it for free or very cheap.
