"50Gb bonus, if you top up your Data Big Bundle" con

Last week, O2 sent me an SMS to say if I topped up my "£10 Data Big Bundle", they'd give me "a whopping 50Gb of extra data to use over 30 days."

I topped up the next day.

No extra 50Gb of data.

 

I've just been on the MyO2 chat with an operator, who took 15 minutes to establish that this is a Pay-as-you-Go number, and he can't help me at all.   Yeah, thanks for that.

 

extra 50Gb for free... 

 

I do not live in the UK, so no, ringing customer services is not a free call, and this is an error on O2's side.

 

What should I do, other than contacting the ombudsman, and telling them about this O2 con ?

Bonus data is usually used before your normal data allowance and doesn't always show up in your allowances.

Sometimes it is added as a bolt on Guide: Where is my discount or Extra Data? 

If neither of these suggestions help you need to contact O2.

I did contact O2 on Facebook Messenger and send screen shots of the SMS Offer which they'd sent me.

 

3 days later they told me to text Balance to 21202.  This was useless.. It just shows the money (not remaining data) on my account.

 

I had told them I'd logged into MyO2 and there's no 50Gb bonus.  I told them that their own SMS said I'd receive a SMS once I'd topped up to confirm this bonus, but nothing had arrived.

 

Days later, I asked if they were ignoring me and they eventually said no, but they were extremely busy, and they sent me an SMS code to verify who I was.  I did this, and two days later, no reply. 

 

They're worse than useless.
