I'm not sure what type of gate entry payg system you have? Does it allow your phone to open the gate?

Either way there are a number of ways to top up if you follow the guide here

Guide How to Top Up (PAYG)

Checking your balance here https://www.o2.co.uk/help/pay-as-you-go/checking-your-balance

You would need to put the sim in a phone to check that OR enter the number of the sim (in the gate) when you are prompted for the number..

Auto top-up may be of interest to you: http://service.o2.co.uk/IQ/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,Kb=Companion,question=ref(User):str(Mobile),C...

I suspect you might have to place the sim card in a phone at least once to set it up, but then it should work fine after that.

You need to put SIM in a phone so you can register for your MyO2 http://www.o2.co.uk/myo2

Once done, you can replace it in gate and check balance and top up through your MyO2 app.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
