cannot activate sim

I have just got a new iPad and pay as you go sim. I have put the sim in but am not receiving the verification code by text. It now says I have to contact customer services but they are no help at all as they tell me to look online

Hi @Rach4 

You need to put the sim in a phone to receive the verification text.

No it won't mess anything up but you can use any old or spare phone to get the code.
