Your post is a little confusing...
Are you on PAYG? You can't just cancel your number, You can change it if you ring customer services 4445.
If you no longer want to be on PAYG then just stop topping up and your number will expire
If you are on auto top up then you can cancel this via My O2 http://www.o2.co.uk/myo2
If however, you are on contract then you have to cancel via this route
