Why is my VISA debit card not accepted?
I keep getting the message "The card number entered is not an accepted card type", but no explanation is given or help offered.
This is the first time my card has ever been refused anywhere.

There are some exceptions to the visa cards accepted

What card is it?

This looks like something you’d need to call O2’s customer service team about – give them a call on 202  or 0344 809 0202

Use the specific Payment management number  0800 902 0217

The opening times are:
Monday to Friday – 8am to 8pm
Saturday – 8am to 6pm
Sunday – 9am to 6pm

If your browser is auto filling your card details, make sure there are no gaps or spaces esp at the end of the number.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

Thanks, but there are no spaces. That is something I had already checked.

This is a standard Co-op Bank Visa Debit card.
I spoke to someone from customer services who gave the opinion that this is because the card needs 24 hours to be registered (something not previously stated anywhere). That, however, makes no sense given that the error message relates specifically to the card.

Thanks for providing the specific Payment management number 0800 902 0217. That is not something I found while blundering around in O2's labyrinth.

I used a Co-0p debit card for years with no problem

How are you trying to pay

Is it a top up or bill-pay?

If top up try using the web based that doesn't require you to sign in

Guide How to Top Up (PAYG)

Is your address that is linked to the card in the UK ?

Do you have a different card that you could try ?
