Why are O2 Pay and go phones more expensive than anywhere else?

They are even more expensive than the manufacturers.

Example. Pixel 4a £279 every where else, iPhone SE £399 everywhere else.

Is there any particular reason for this?

Because they can.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

Because they have made the business decision to charge more for handsets, the price set by the manufacturers is the MSRP (Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price), and if going PAYG you should 99% of the time buy sim free...

- Xperia 1V - o2 and Spusu
- Pixel 8 Pro - o2 and Vodafone UK
