Hi,

We are flying to Turkey for a holiday this summer and we all have pay as you go O2 sims.

I wanted to ask

1) Is there a charge just for sims to be connected to the local O2 network?

2) What (if any) charges for receiving calls or texts?

3) What additional charges for making calls/texts/data on top of the normal charges (i think its the 123 plan)?

Thanks in advance.

There's no connection charge but your phone may automatically use data and use your credit.

SMS are always free to receive.

Use WhatsApp over wifi to call and text home for free if the other party also has WhatsApp.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Hi, wow that was a quick answer  and wow they are some high prices!

So if I don't make any calls or receive them (ie I don't accept any calls) will there still be a charge for the sim to be on the network?

If so i might be better just turning the sim off.

Thanks again for your help.

Safest way is to put phone into airplane mode and turn on wifi.

That way there'll be no charges at all.
