Hi,

Since activating a new sim, verification/activation codes sent by Paypal are not being received, leaving me unable to activate the new number on the Paypal website. The only advice offered by Paypal is to contact the phone provider as they may be filtering some messages. Texts from other sources are getting through okay,  any advice appreciated.

This is being escalated by Forum management to O2, @thoiter - many people reporting similar OTP code SMS failures. Meantime, do check you have not inadvertently blocked the sender, and take a glance through some of these (yes, carrier filtering is in there too!). Good luck!

@thoiter

Typical response from PayPal, it could be o2 or it could be the Gateway Vendor that Paypal use, as not had any reports through our CS Teams (not o2) saying anything of the same, and we have 10K's of users using it each day and about 30% are on o2 and get the verification and other SCA codes.

So this finally resolved itself after 2 days.  I made another attempt at getting a code and it came through along with nine previous ones. No idea why there was such an epic delay, but there you go. Thanks for the suggestions.

Thanks for the update, @thoiter - what changed on your side, if anything, to release the OTP floodgates?

Or was it PayPal's Gateway Vendor who spotted and addressed an issue between PayPal and O2, as @madasaf1sh highlighted above...? 🤔

We may never find out, sadly.

Glad it is all working for you again 👍

No changes on my side, so it remains a mystery. Let's hope it's just a glitch in the system wink

Is it possible it has something to do with SMS not being transmitted when WiFi Calling is in operation. O2 seem to have lagged behind other operators to implement this.
