Transferring a Pay As You Go SIM to another phone

I have an old Samsung phone which is tied to an O2 Pay As You Go SIM.

I now have an untied iPhone and want to stay with O2 using the same number.

Can I simply transfer the SIM from my old phone to the iPhone?

If not, what do I need to do?

You would probably be better getting a new sim for the iPhone.

For a couple of reasons.

1) If its an old sim it probably wouldn't fit the new phone (without knowing the model of each phone)

2) You would need the settings changed as iphone settings are different to Samsung.

Ring customer services and ask them to send you a new PAYG sim for an iPhone and tell them you want to transfer your old number onto the new sim. https://www.o2.co.uk/contactus

That would be quicker than ordering a new sim online and doing a sim swap....

Pop into any O2 store when you get back and take both phones with you.
They will get you a new SIM and the phone up and running in minutes.

That's fine @Marine_Engineer

Just remember though to keep the sim active by making a chargeable call every 6 months if you want to keep that number. 

(I have no dea if you are currently using the phone so offering that advice just in case) wink

I've had this SIM for too many years to recall and have not had it withdrawn depite sometimes up to nine months of non-use, and so I don't think it will be a problem, but I will be back in the UK in three months so I'll either follow up on your recommendation or make sure that I use it to be absolutely sure.
