Hello.

My Motorola C261 phone is on its last legs.

I want to use my O2 SIM in a Samsung GT-E1170 but it needs unlocking.

I have tried an unlatching request via O2 but I have received an email saying they can't do it:

This is not an O2 device, it will not be possible for us to provide an unlatching code.

Where do I go from here?

Thanks.

You need to find out which network it is locked to and then request the phone to be unlocked by that network. O2 can't help and can only supply unlock codes for their own phones.

Your only other option is to get it unlocked in a local phone shop or market stall

@otronicsWhere did you buy the Samsung from and is it a new device?

Have you tried a sim in it?... as it 'may' already be unlocked. (some phones you purchase from various sellers are sold as 'unlocked to any network'.

Otherwise follow the advice given by @jonsie above

However, if you come back and give us more info we could probably advise further wink

The Samsung is locked to Orange.

The Samsung is not new - it is a spare phone given to me a couple of years back.

I have tried my existing O2 SIM in it and it asks for a network unlock code.

Thanks.

You’ll need to ask EE to unlock it then.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)
