I topped up my payg phone last night and its still not showing on the balance. Does it take this long??

Although the balance is showing as 0.00.

Something is definitely not happy though....when I try to ring out, it beeps once then nothing but when I try to call the number, it goes straight to voicemail yet I have full bars.

So that confirms that your credit has been applied to your account and you have allowances to use.

Try restarting your phone first in case it's just dropped off the network.

Also check your postcode here for any local issues O2 Service Status

Just to check, are you calling a number that falls within your allowances (a normal 07 mobile number, or an 01, 02 land line number)?
