What tariff are you on?

If it's a big bundle, the credit is taken for allowances.

You can check if you have allowances by looking in your MyO2 http://www.o2.co.uk/myo2

So there won't be a balance showing until I've topped up enough to cover the allowances?

Yes, that's correct.

Say your tariff is £10.

Top up £10 and you get allowances but zero credit.

Top up £20 and you get allowances plus £10 credit etc.....

Hmmmm that doesn't sound good! Think I better look at changing my tariff. I only really want it for calls and text.

O2 don't offer anything like that anymore but you could always switch to giffgaff (part of O2) wjho do offer a basic pat as you go tariff www.giffgaff.com

I've tried using the phone for calls and text, and there's just nothing which is why I thought the top up was taking a long time to come through
