My question is the 02 sim is on the classic payg tarrif 3p call 2p text 1p mb, and i have a lot of credit on it.

Will i stay on classic payg, and keep my credit when the number transfers?

Absolutely correct @Alanjones. You can stay on Classic, until O2 change the rules (again)

Or until they shut down PAYG completely and move everyone to giffgaff........

Like next year when 3g is turned off.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

A mass move of customers to giffgaff seems highly likely. As giffgaff is a wholly-owned subsidiary of O2, credit could likely be moved as well. That would avoid the nightmare scenario for O2 of potentially having to process large numbers of PAC codes and refunds.

If a forced move of the PAYG customer-base to giffgaff is the plan, that would also explain why O2 are still accepting new PAYG customers.
