@Callyrfc21 - Are you PAYG or contract? (Your post is in the PAYG section of the Forum)
If PAYG, then no need to do anything.
The PAYG accounts will deactivate after around 6 months of non-use or zero top up.
The SIM cards will then be defunct.
Don't forget to cancel any auto top up you might have set up: https://autotopup.o2.co.uk/o2uk/FAQ.aspx
Then you can have your pick of the PAYG offerings, if you decide to stay with O2: https://www.o2.co.uk/shop/sim-cards/pay-as-you-go#simtype=bigbundles
