I want to buy a sim so that I can use my previous i phone for emergency calls in case i have a fall etc. I dont want to have to top up monthly, just to keep it charged for use in the house. I will still have my current contract phone for use as well. Any suggestions?

Not O2 for sure

Have a look at 1p mobile, giffgaff or Tesco to see their offerings

Other customeers will probably be able to offer more choices to you

@GillT

You have to top up any payg sim these days.

No one will offer you something that never needs topping up.

The cheapest at around £30 per year are 1pMobile https://www.1pmobile.com/

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

My backup is 1p Mobile. Yes, it is £30 a year but if you keep it topped up the credit rolls over.

I was away for a week this year and no O2 data. Just paid for a data bundle from my £30 and got EE 5G!

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.

if you want to procure a second SIM for backup purposes, I suggest that consider getting one on an alternative network.

That will hopefully ensure that you can still make a call even if there are network issues on O2, which will inevitably happen from time to time.
