Hi,
I've just received a Text saying that the tariff that I'm on is going to be discontinued. And I'm going to be transferred to one called Standard PAYG Ultra for £10 a month. This has confused me a little. (Be patient I'm old )
The message is as follows:
"Your O2 tariff Simply Pay as you Go will soon be discontinued, so we're updating you to a new one. Don't worry your tariff cost won't increase. This'll happen between January - March 2025. Your new Pay as you Go tariff will be the Standard PAYG Ultra for £10 a month, giving you 1000 mins, 3000 texts, 1GB Data & 50 MMS - you'll keep your top up for usage outside these allowances. We'll be in touch a few days before the switch. For more info visit"
It then gives me a link.
It's just occurred to me, "you'll keep your top up for usage outside these allowances" Is this £10 a month for the allowance when I top up ? And I don't have to pay monthly ? It is isn't it ?
Sorry this has confused me a little as I don't use my phone very often, it's not even a smart phone. I would just like to make sure about this.
Regards.

Thank you all so much for your advice and suggestions, I really appreciate your help. M15, do you suggest that I just see what tariff O2 changes me to....I suppose it'd be easy enough to change again if I don't like it. I just wish they made it easier online for non-tech people like me to understand as nowhere have I seen any options other than the rolling or big bundle plans. Thanks again.

If you are offered any tariff with the word "simplicity" in it, it will be the best "you" can get from O2, but yes, as you are PAYG, you can change or leave at will.

Be interesting what O2 do for Simplicity users with <£10 credit available on the relevant date.
I'm sure they have an undisclosed answer.

Knowing o2 at the moment those users will be cut off and sold down the river...never to be seen again...

"make a chargeable call"
Does a chargeable call mean any outgoing call, or only one which is outside the free minutes of the tariff? If you're on that "add £10 then get an allowance for a month before anything depletes your balance" do only calls made after the free minutes are used, or after the 30 days, count as chargeable? And with "PAYG" tariffs where you get say £5 deducted per month for unlimited calls, no data, that month would you have to make a premium rate call or something which would charge separately than within the unlimited minutes for it to be "chargeable"?
