I have a PAYG account and had someone phoning from a number purporting to be in Scotland asking if I'd like a discounted offer on my bill and that a 'senior supervisor' would call back on an 'official O2 number' which she did. She seemed to have a lot of information about me - my mother's maiden name, email address, address, monthly bill date, monthly amount and that it was a PAYG account and offered to reduce my monthly payment by around half. She then wanted my bank details so I said I did not wish to give that and wanted the information sent to me. She said that would come later and she would call me back and I could meanwhile check the phone number was a valid O2 one. obviously I couldn't anyway but she rang back and I refused to give any info and terminated the call. Just to let others know to be wary - that O2 would never require confirmation of this level of info. or require bank details to be supplied (in any case they already have mine!).
