I just tried to use my Revolut card to top up but the message back says "card not recognised"... is it legal to refuse a Revolut payment?

Revolut is not yet a full-fledged bank on its home turf of the United Kingdom, operating with an electronic money institution license instead. To change that status, the challenger bank applied for a U.K. banking license earlier this year, which is expected to be granted in 2022. So a bit of a grey area ATM, @R3d.

No it's not illegal at all.

Vendors can choose what cards to accept.

You can use an intermediary website until the card is more widely accepted @R3d
