Is payg still available  not pay monthly? , you used to top up say £10 & you don't need to top up every month it lasts until you don't have any money left

Nope. Networks are slowly phasing these out. 

You can run giffgaff as payg but you will need to top up now and then

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.

Our Classic PAYG

Our classic PAYG tariff is perfect for light to medium users. At just 1p per minute for standard calls, 1p per text message and 1p per MB, you pay for exactly what you use. No guessing bundle sizes or paying for more than you need.

The minimum spend requirement is at least £10 every 60-days, obviously if you use all your credit you can top-up earlier. At the end of the 60-day period any remaining credit (above the required commitment) will roll over.
