The mast been on your doorstep means your phone isnt probably connected to it, but it will use one that that is a bit further away.
There is no speed guarantee on mobile connections and PAYG gets the lowest priority on the network, and you dont get 5G..
As you are on PAYG the simple answer is upsticks and move to another network, there is literally nothing keeping you on o2..

Not necessarily true. Antennas are directional and radiate outwards not downwards - hence sometimes in-buildings with rooftop sites you can be served from a neighbouring site rather than the antenna above you.
If you're literally adjacent to the antenna such that you could even be in the public ICNIRP zone, then I would reasonably expect you to be covered by that site. Checking the radio parameters (RSRP primarily) in a suitable app, would give a strong clue.
Good coverage but poor data speeds could be a strong indicator of radio congestion.
