Hi @FrF - your phone can do this, and you can set a limit or a level at which it alerts you that you are nearly at your limit:

If you're on an Android device:
  1. Open your phone's Settings app.
  2. Tap Network & internet. Internet.
  3. Next to your carrier, tap Settings .
  4. At the top you'll see how much total data you use.
  5. To see graphs and details, tap App data usage. To pick a time period, tap the Down arrow .

For iPhone:

To see how much mobile data you've used, go to Settings > Mobile Data or Settings > Cellular. If you're using an iPad, you may see Settings > Mobile Data. Scroll down to find out which apps are using mobile data.

Good luck!

I'd like to know if this can be done using the app, rather than by setting a limit on the phone as suggested. below.

You can monitor data usage on the app if a you have a set allowance and if you can get it to work

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.

But you can't set a limit on the app, it's not possible, which was the question.

No point setting a limit as you can't exceed the tariff allowances and data will stop, ergo, limit set.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
