O2 Top-up in Germany

When I call 4444 to top-up using a voucher, the call is not registering that I have entered the number 1 to top-up (or any other number for that matter). I also cannot top-up using the O2 app as my app store is registered to Australia and it is not available there. Is there no way to top up using text messages like with other companies?

But o2 don't do topups via text, and also it has to be an o2 UK top up voucher, a German one wont work..

Sounds like the DTMF tones don't work from your Roaming network.
