Number porting gone wrong

Been an O2 contract customer for 10 years.

Switched to PAYG

Since O2 "ported" my number, I cannot make or receive calls, or send text messages.

This problem has persisted for one and a half months.

Because I cannot make calls, I cannot call any of the customer service numbers. See what O2 did there? slight_smile

@FixMyPortedNmbr Download Skype to speak to customer service: Guide: A Guide to Skype
Call 0800 902 0217 or 0800 032 1402
When it comes to the reason you are calling, stay silent for 15 seconds and you will be taken to the keypad options.
Press 2 for Everything Else
Press 5 for More Options
Press 7 for Anything Else which will put you though to someone.
Say 'Upgrade', 'Lost/Stolen', or 'Fraud' if the suggestion above doesn't get you through.
Best time to call is 8 am.
You can also reach O2 via social media:

Wondering if @O2Lisa or @O2Emma could help out on this one.

Having a FB, IG, Twitter or Skype account should not be a requirement to get support for an unrelated service that I am paying for. Bare minimum would be for the service to work.

@FixMyPortedNmbr

None of them are on shift, and nor will they be over the weekend.

Faults happen, and when they do you need to ring them, its not o2's problem you dont have another method.

You dont need to use Skype, use a landline and call the numbers given as this is NOT customer services but a Customer to Customer Forum

@madasaf1sh , I do understand all of that. However, I do not have a landline - that is why I am paying for the O2 service, so I do not have to have a landline. I can wait for next week, as long as this eventually gets sorted.

@FixMyPortedNmbr

Just checking that you have activated your payg sim by topping up ?

Guide How to Top Up (PAYG)

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Hi @MI5 . Yes, I have topped up the number with the PAYG monthly value twice in the same week. That was my first investigation path, as it was not entirely clear, and I did not want to assume.

Thanks!

Just wondering, @FixMyPortedNmbr - you would do a migration from O2 Contract to O2 PAYG - the only UK network that lets you do this. Can you check if what you did follows the guidance in the relevant section here, please?

@pgn , thanks for pointing that section out - had not seen it before.

All seems exactly as it happened:

  1. Had an O2 pay monthly contract for 10 years (never switched contract or purchased any phone, so all dues were paid)
  2. Purchased a PAYG SIM on an O2 brick & mortar shop
  3. Called customer service from the original SIM card to do the portability

The end result did not come out as expected, as I cannot make or receive any phone calls or send text messages.
