Number for new sim only account

I have a SIM only card and want to use it in a spare phone as a back-up. I need to open a PAYG account and I need a number for the phone.

You will need to order a new sim card from the o2 shop, as blank / spare sim cards cant be used in this way.

You can do this by either using the online shop or visting an o2 store.

PAYG  and Contract sims are completely different.

You would end up paying for 2 contracts (if you already have a contract running)..

Follow the advice from @madasaf1sh if you want a PAYG sim.

Be aware though, O2 only offer Big Bundles on their PAYG sims. These would require topping up every month https://www.o2.co.uk/help/pay-as-you-go/big-bundles 

If you want a Classic PAYG account (where you top up only as and when required), you need to get one from Tesco or Giffgaff. Both run on the O2 network.
