Got a new SIM and a new phone (Motorola edge 50 neo running Android 14) but I'm having issues with the SIM.
I'm away on holiday (Romania) and trying to activate this SIM. I'm on a Pay As You Go plan, and got the 8GB/£10 bundle activated.
Although I can receive text messages and can use the internet on the SIM with Wi-Fi turned off, I cannot receive or make any calls, anywhere (UK or Europe).
I have full 4G signal with an R next to it, indicating Roaming is active. I have also received messages from O2 welcoming me to the country, confirming the bundle, etc.
I have tried the following:
Switching preferred network to 2G/3G/4G/5G
Turning on/off Wi-Fi calling
Rebooting in safe mode
Reset mobile network settings
Enabled/Disabled 4G calling
Automatically and manually selected networks (there is only one network that it connects to, out of 4)
Checked if calls are diverted - they are not (new phone, again, default settings were on)
Called O2 and after being on the phone for 2 hours, I was eventually told "give it some time, it will work" (I wish I was joking)
Tried changing APN to both mobile.o2.co.uk & payandgo.o2.co.uk
Updated system
Placed SIM into different phone - still doesn't work
Placed different SIM into Motorola - works just fine
I feel like I'm losing my mind here, especially after reps shrugged it off and told me that everything looks fine on their end and just to 'give it time'.
Any ideas on what else I could try are welcomed.

Pretty standard for O2 PAYG abroad.
Very rarely works these days.

What options do I have then?

Get a local sim or just use WhatsApp for calls and messages.
And yes, believe it or not, it might just start working at some point.
