Network Rejection Cause- phone not allowed MM#6

Purchased a refurbished sony xperia from O2 online shop. Put an an O2 pay as you go  SIM Card into it and Im getting Network Rejection Cause- phone not allowed MM#6 , as if its locked to another network.

 

Can anybody help?

It's either locked or barred. 

Unlock here Guide: Unlocking an O2 phone to use a different SIM card but I would also check IMEI number online.

Just found this if get in touch with o2 sounds like someone kept the o2 phone and then sent o2 the one you got or could be from o2 recycle @Martin-O2 do o2 sell the phones from o2 recycle a d out them on the site as good as new

That just means it's locked to another network as mentioned above.
