Hi, I have a standard PAYG sim card which has been great and I want to keep it. I am moving house to a rural village in a couple of weeks and when I check coverage for O2  it states that with 4g ( which my 'phone operates on) works well outside but not inside. However it states that 2G works well inside and out. Is there a workaround?

Many thanks

Depending on which phone you have you could always use WiFi calling (and SMS over WiFi) @cosmos1

Check out the o2 help pages for this in the first link below.

https://www.o2.co.uk/help/network-coverage-and-international/wifi-and-4g-calling

To get this on your account (once you have confirmed it will work on your phone) you will need to speak to o2 customer services and ask them to turn it on.

If you message O2 on Facebook (https://o2uk.co/O2CFB) , Twitter (https://o2uk.co/O2CTW) or Instagram (https://o2uk.co/O2CIG) , they should be able to help you with this.

Once they have done that, wait 24 hours and you can turn it on in your My o2.

Once you have done this then look for a setting on your phone for WiFi calling (which will vary depending on device and software version).

Unfortunately that is all you can do really. 2G is (has) been phased out so it is not really available in many places...

Edited to add, kudos to MI5 for the screen shot above!

@cosmos1

Check the network settings on your phone as you may be able to just select 2g only.
