Messages v Text

What is the differance between texts and messages?  I have unlimited text's on my account yet I am charges for messages.

@fasterbyelan  MMS messages are 50p each and can include media, pictures or smilie faces https://community.o2.co.uk/t5/How-to-Guides/Accidental-MMS-Sending-and-How-to-Avoid-it/ba-p/1014132

@fasterbyelan  Using WhatsApp over WiFi will avoid charges for picture messages. The persons you send to must have the app too.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2
