Why did you buy a new sim?
O2 will replace sim cards for free and tariff changes can be done in your MyO2 without the need for a new sim card http://www.o2.co.uk/myo2
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

@Joey  If your old sim fits your phone then pop it in there, then you will keep your number. (Unless you have changed from contract to PAYG or vice versa)
