How to setup auto top-up?

Tearing my hair out trying to set this up.

Help says "To get started, sign in to your My O2 account and activate auto top-up" but there is no option to do this, only the normal top up amounts. Tried calling customer services but there seems to be no option to do it there either. There's never any chat agents available and there's no "talk to someone" option in CS.

Am on the point of giving up ...

Hi @mr-b

Don't give up. If this is the first time of topping up then you have to use a voucher.

Once you have done that.... then you will be able to register your card for auto top ups

You can also top up directly via My O2 app

Other ways here https://community.o2.co.uk/t5/How-to-Guides/How-to-Top-Up-PAYG/ba-p/1156408

Best of luck and welcome to the forum Welcome

Hi @mr-b

Is this the first time you're topping up?

If it is you need to use a voucher for your first top-up and then you should have no problem setting up auto top-up.

You can purchase vouchers at many supermarkets or, if you have one nearby, an O2 shop.

Good luck and welcome to the forum Welcome

Thanks, no I also struggled with the first top up until I discovered that it wouldn't take Mastercard as payment for the first top-up, so I had to go to a shop to get a voucher. 😞

Why do they make it so difficult?

Hi @mr-b

It may be that the auto topup system is having an off day. (quite common!!)

Have you tried topping up directly through the My O2 app? A new system they put in place in September of this year.

If that doesn't work then just look at all other ways in the link I provided.

Or just call 4444?

You will get it topped up, though not the way you want to today,,

The MyO2 app just has the normal top up, ditto for 4444 - no mention of auto-top ups anywhere. No option to talk to anyone either ...

Then as I said earlier, you will have to do this via voucher until the system is 'restored' @mr-b

Sorry but that's your only option other than using an ATM.

Topping up with a credit card works fine, just that auto-top up seems to have completely disappeared as a feature.

@mr-b

Although I am on contract I can still see it as a feature as long as I don't sign into My O2 (where my contract details would show up)

I am looking at it via my laptop

However, as I said, if the system is down today, it may be back on tomorrow
